Feature and Follow Friday #7

Question of the Week:
How do you handle a book you don't like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

Nicole
Hi! It's just me on the blog today since Michelle's off on some school related trip. (Good luck twinnie!) And I would have to say that I would choose to power through a book. It's probably because I don't like leaving things hanging and there's always a chance that the ending might somehow redeem the book. Although yeah, that rarely happens.

I've only ever DNF'd a book once because I just couldn't take it.

Feature and Follow Friday #6

Question of the Week:
What is your preferred reading format? Hardcovers, eBooks, paperbacks, etc?

Michelle
Definitely hardcovers - especially when the book is really good! If it's a great read and I happen to have it in paperback or eBook format, I will most definitely look for a hardcover. Plus, I have this weird thinking that when I grow old and stuff, the hardcovers will definitely still be there and I can read all the amazing books again and reminisce about "my youth".

Nicole
Hardcovers/paperbacks as long as it's an actual book, I'm not picky. I like sniffing books so I like reading actual books as compared to eBooks, and besides it's an altogether different experience curling up in bed with a book rather than my iPad.

Question of the Week:
Activity: Favorite Literary Quote

Nicole:
"Tearing down the rest of the world won't make you happy. Look inside yourself. Because finding who you were meant to be? What you were put into this world to do? That's what fills the emptiness. It's the only things that can." - p.368 Splintered, A.G. Howard

Michelle:
"When I first met you, I thought we were made for each other even though we seemed like opposites in some ways and we fought. But now... Now I feel like we weren't made for each other. We're making each other - into the people we should become." -p. 301, Fuse by Julianna Baggott

Question of the Week:
Tell us about the most emotional you've ever read in a book - and how did you react?

Michelle: I don't usually cry a lot when it comes to books and movies, but the most emotional reads I have ever read were Second Chance Summer and If I Lie. I read Second Chance Summer in the car on the way back to my house, which was a colossal mistake. You do not read either of these books in public. Do not, do not, do not.

Nicole: I don't usually cry over book or anything - Michelle says I have no feelings. (Michelle: Liar! You were the one who admitted to eating any semblance of feeling you had.) But if I had to choose I would pick the ending of Girl of Nightmares. Anna is one creepy, scary ghost girl but even dangerous spectral beings deserve a happy ending, don't you think?

Question of the Week:
We always talk about books that WE want. Let's turn it on its head. What books have you given other people lately?

Michelle: Well, we just recently concluded our blog giveaways, so we gave away a copy of Jay Kristoff's Stormdancer and two paperback copies of Rachel Hartman's Seraphina.

It's just me on the blog today, as Nicole is busy with her schoolwork. Truth be told, we're both swamped with course requirements until the end of the week, so in the past few weeks, you guys might have noticed our lack of commenting on other posts, as well as on other people's meme posts. We do apologize for it, but we do intend to make up for it as soon as we're relatively free. (Which won't be long now, thank heavens!)

What books have you guys given away? Leave us your links below and we'll follow back as soon as we're free!

Question of the Week:
Happy Mardi Gras! If they were throwing the HOTTEST books off of a Mardi Gras float - what would you do to have them throw to you...?

Nicole: I love parties and dressing up so if I find out that they'll be throwing out copies of Kinslayer by Jay Kristoff you can bet I'll be wearing an outfit in neon colors with a sparkly wig dipped in glitters and rainbows and spikes! I'll also be wearing a unicorn circlet so I'm pretty sure people will steer clear of me so they don't get stabbed.

Michelle: Well, I'm not really a person who likes crowds, but if I find out beforehand that a copy of Jennifer Nielsen's The Runaway King will be thrown off the float, I will make sure to be the flashiest person there. I would seriously roll in feathers, glitters, and sequins if it would mean getting a copy of that!

(We've read each other's response, and weren't surprised that even our answers are quite alike. No wonder people can't tell us apart!)

Hey, you know what? We're Chinese, and we like bad puns (Well, Michelle, mostly.) And so we'll be selecting TWO (2) winners to win paperback copies of Rachel Hartman's Seraphina for Chinese New Year.
